Grammy Winners & Nominees Part of 2013 EarthFest LA Concert at WLAC
Top 40 chart topper and five-time Grammy Award nominee AMBROSIA will perform at the 8th Annual EarthFest LA coming to West Los Angeles College on Saturday, September 28. Returning to the event from last year are PAUL BROWN, a contemporary jazz and R&B artist and two-time Grammy winner; and Chris Lightfoot musician / songwriter. Other performers include RUSSELL BLAKE who has recorded with or accompanied jazz and R&B greats including Hugh Masakela, Chaka Khan, and Wynton Marsalis; and FREDDIE RAVEL, who will bring a Latin groove to the stage, and has recorded and composed with Earth, Wind and Fire and Santana.
The family-friendly concert, to be held on the college’s Graduation Lawn overlooking the Westside, is only part of the day-long event that is EarthFest LA 2013. The event includes discussions on environmental topics, information booths, demonstrations, food and activities for the kids. This year’s EarthFest LA Event Chairs are Assemblywoman Holly Mitchell and Culver City Council Member / Vice Mayor Meghan Sahli-Wells.
EarthFest LA is produced by California Greenworks, Inc. in partnership with West. The intent is to raise the level of awareness about environmental protection, conservation and pollution prevention. The overall goal of the event is to teach the public about sustainable ways to live green and how to reduce negative impacts to our environment. California Greenworks is a non-profit organization that provides environmental awareness programs and education to urban neighborhoods in Los Angeles.
The environmental expo is free and will run from 11:00am to 4:00pm. The concert is scheduled from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. Lawn tickets are just $10.00 in advance.
